It is the most anticipated time of the year for high school students: prom season!
While TV and social media glamorize prom and only show the best of the best, shopping for prom can be really hard financially, and even emotionally.
Organized by Key Club and Ms. Basinski, Princess For A Night is an annual event that takes place in H208. Hundreds of dresses donated by name-brand companies, such as David’s Bridal, quality makeup kits containing various brands found in Sephora, shoes in many shapes and styles, and plenty of accessories are available to students at no cost.
Many girls were able to find their dream dresses after sifting through the packed racks, and felt confident in the gown that they felt best fit their desired look.
“When I found my dress, I was filled with excitement and pleasure. I’m just super happy our school has events like this because it’s just a blessing,” Jordan Spence exclaimed with joy as she clutched her perfect match.
“The aim of PFAN is to provide for girls who can’t afford an expensive dress or don’t want to spend a ton of money on a dress they’re only going to wear for one night. We want every girl to feel as beautiful as they would with a $600 dress,” Key Club president Noorjahan Sheikh stated.
CSS Department worker, Ms. Basinski, plays a huge role in the annual event. She spends each year collecting dresses and accessories to ensure that there is variety.
“I want every girl to feel as beautiful as I did on my prom night, no matter what shape or size they are,” Ms. Basinski stated passionately.
The intent of the event does a phenomenal job of serving its purpose by relieving the stress of students who are looking to attend the highly anticipate prom without breaking the budget.
