Chris makes a great tackle and gets pumped.

Jordyn Reid makes a spectacular catch, and scores!
Coming off a big win, the Mount Vernon Majors were feeling pretty confident after ripping up J.E.B Stuart
high school. The Majors have yet to lose a game at home, with a 4-0 record.
The Majors didn’t hold anything back against Annandale high school. The seniors played their hearts out.
As Annandale approached Mount Vernon, the Majors were getting centered, and thinking only about the game
and what had to happen of the next 3 hours. There was a still slim chance of winning the district championship,
and beating Annandale would help tremendously in that pursuit.
Once the game started, the Majors were pumped and ready to take on this homecoming game. As Scotty Burns
kicked the ball off, Annandale makes a great run, but Scotty came back and made one the best tackles anybody could ever make.
The Majors defense showed yet again, they are a whole new Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon kept pounding and pounding until it was clear neither the offense of defense could be taken
down. Annandale honestly did not know what to do with Mount Vernon so, the Majors took advantage of that and
brought out the dogs. Sophomore Jordyn Reid played a wonderful game once again, as did Timmy Heltzel, and of
course so did “Mr. Mount Vernon,” Darrien Newton.
Jordyn ended up with 6 catches, and 125 yards with 2 TDs. Timmy showed off, throwing bullet passes to all his
receivers. Timmy went 17/30 with 356 yards, and 3 TDs. Wow!
Mr. Mount Vernon played a game like he never played before, coming up with 7 catches for 140 yards and 2 TDs
but that is nothing new with Darrien Newton.
Joshua Henry, a player nobody has heard a lot about found his inner beast. Joshua ended the game with 8 carries
for 108 yards, with 2 TDs as well. The majors showed no mercy!
Once the game was over, Darrien Newton and Timmy Heltzel agreed, “… this was the best game we played all
year. Not just because we scored a lot of points, but because we played well, played as a team, and executed. All 11 guys did their job.”
Joshua Henry said, “Once our whole team does their job, nobody can stop us. We would pretty much be unbeatable.”
At the end of the day, the Majors played another terrific game, and going to a homecoming dance after a big win
is always one of the best things you can do. The Majors had a great time at homecoming, and of course they had a
great time on the field. Keep it up Majors!
