Prompt: A genie grants you three wishes. What are they?

Down The Rabbit Hole

By Ariana Martinez

My mother took me on a trip

She kicked me down a rabbit hole…

I told myself to get a grip

As I fell down, down, down the rabbit hole

“I HATE MY LIFE!” I screamed aloud

Lying at the bottom of the rabbit hole

I saw this floating turquoise cloud

Followed by a genie trolling through the rabbit hole

He told me a tiny wish was all it took

To lead me out the rabbit hole

I thought and thought and thought and thought

Maybe I didn’t really want to leave the rabbit hole

I want a cat and bubble gum too, maybe fairy wings for flying

But I also need food and shelter too to survive here in a rabbit hole

“Make three wishes,” he said again, waiting

Okay…

“ONE! I wish my friend’s won’t ever worry or wonder where I’m at

TWO! I wish I was a bubble gum fairy with a pet tuxedo cat

Three. I wish my mother well up in hell; tell her I’m dancing circles round my rabbit hole.”

3: D.S.

Prompt: At a banquet in Kazakhstan, you are greeted as a guest of honor and served the traditional sheep’s eyeball. Respectfully, you decline. You are then offered the sheep’s tongue, instead. What’s your excuse this time?

I told them that I am allergic to sheep’s tongue. Afterwards they offered me a sheep’s foot. I obviously had to say yes because I couldn’t say no for a third time. Once I started to eat it, they all started laughing because it was all just a prank. I asked what’s so funny. Then they said nobody eats sheep’s foot. But the joke was on them because the sheep’s foot actually tasted really well.

4: J.P.

Prompt: Write the ad for an expensive new drug that improves bad posture. Now, list the possible side effects.

Hey you there? Want a new medical drug that causes more problems than it solves? Well we got one for you! Introducing, that drug on television that you saw that one time! It improves bad posture, that’s it, nothing else, you can quote us on that. Some side effects include being the most hated person in the world, receiving all known and unknown diseases. Don’t worry, fixing that bad posture is what we strive for in a company. You’ll be hunted by all animals from now on, rather than talk, you’ll forever sing, you’ll lose one of your senses, maybe all of them, we don’t know, and you can no longer eat because we thought, “Why not!?”

5: C.T.

Prompt: At a banquet in Kazakhstan, you are greeted as a guest of honor and served the traditional sheep’s eyeball. Respectfully, you decline. You are then offered the sheep’s tongue, instead. What’s your excuse this time?

I’m a little sheepish at the moment so you’ll have to bare with me. I appreciate the gesture but I’m really not in the mood for it as I just had a batch of them yesterday. You’re probably thinking, “well if you had it yesterday then why not have it today?” so I’ll tell you this, lying is not a good thing for a guest to do so in my opinion eating tongues is revolting and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves. I was going through this phrase over and over again in my head as I brought the blandly cooked flesh to my mouth in horror of what was to come.
